I have always thought it was neat that she had a birthmark as I myself have one on my arm and several other people in my family have one. I won't mention where my older sister's is as she might not appreciate that :)
As she began to meet new people and strangers in public, I can't tell you how many people have stopped me and said things like, "Oh, she's got some dirt on her neck" or "What's that under her chin?" You would think it would be just kids that have these questions but it is young and old alike. No one is trying to be rude, they are just genuinely concerned. The older she gets there seems to be more questions as she started lifting her head up more and walking and her chubby face doesn't cover it up as much.
Today at Wal-Mart was one of the funniest times. I let her open up her box of raisins for a snack because she thought she was completely starving. A man stopped and commented to his kids on how she was eating raisins and that was a healthy snack. I had an inward "pat myself on the back" moment for that as I frequently see small kids eating the Wal-Mart popcorn chicken as a snack. He saw us again in the parking lot and stopped and said, "I think she's got a raisin stuck to her neck." I looked down briefly and then laughed as I explained to him it was her birthmark.
I think it will make me a little sad if she ever wants to get it removed as I look back and remember all of these times in her early years. Now that I think about it, I don't know that you can get it removed???

Hilarious raisin story! Sweet Gracie!
I'm glad that what I said encouraged you. It's funny how others stories can help us along. I notice that you subscribe to a lot of the same blogs as I do. When were you at OBU? I was there between 01-05. My maiden name was Meyer. What church are you guys at? What's your husband's name? I went to the wives retreat two years ago but last year fell at a hard time for me to make it. Thanks for commenting. It made me feel good about my post.
